Hopi Ear Candles

Ear candling is an ancient therapy, bought to Europe by the Hopi Indian Tribe of South America. The Hopi (meaning "Peaceful People") Indians possess great medicinal knowledge and spirituality and are renowned for their extensive healing skills. Ear Candling is a non-invasive complementary therapy aimed to help treat conditions associated with the ear, nose and throat. It has benefits, particularly for conditions such as sinus problems, compacted earwax, tinnitus and headaches. Ear candling can also bring about feelings of deep relaxation, enhanced by the infusion of herbs and essential oils into the candle itself.

During treatment, our holistic therapist will gently place the candle in your ear, about a quarter-inch. Once lit the warm air from the flame comes into contact with colder air and a vacuum effect is created - drawing out any wax and other debris that may be lodged in the ear canal. The movement and compression between the ear canal and the candle chamber generate airflow that functions like a chimney, stimulating a sucking action. The burn time of each candle is 10-12 minutes and treatment always involves both ears.

The removal of excess wax and impurities helps to clear the inner ear and sinuses, regulates ear pressure and brings about a lighter sensation in the head and ears. At PremierPhysio we only use Biosun candles, handmade from the highest quality natural ingredients, including beeswax, honey extract, sage, chamomile and pure essential oils.
