Sports Massage

What is sports massage?

Although sports massage was originally designed for athletes to aid optimal performance, you don't have to be an Olympian to benefit! In fact sports massage is useful for anyone with chronic pain, injury or general stiffness. Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue, which includes skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. Therapists generally concentrate on a specific problem area to assist in correcting imbalances in the tissues that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity, trauma or sustained postures.

At PremierPhysio, our sports massage therapists have an extensive knowledge and understanding of the human body and how it functions and will use these skills to advise you on proper stretches and training plan to complement treatment. Generally techniques can be deeper and more specific than regular massage, involving friction massage, myofascial release and trigger point pressure to break down adhesions. The versatility and effectiveness of our sports massage techniques also compliment rehabilitation after physiotherapy.

"My partner Kelly had a 30 min session with Laura, and to say that she was pleased was an understatement! It's not just a massage you are paying for either, the experience also includes an exercise plan too. Laura was very thorough, professional and exceptionally good at what she does. Highly recommended."
